Mindfulness is the awareness that arises out of non-judgmentally paying attention to present moment. The step-by-step process of mental training enables you to pay closer attention to what is happening within you – your thoughts, feelings, and emotions – so you can better understand what is happening to and around you.

How To Meditate – Simple Meditation Instructions
Choose a quiet place.
Sit comfortable on the floor or in a chair with back straight but not rigid.
Rest your hands in your lap or on your knees. Look down at the floor with your eyelids half or fully closed.
Bring you attention to the room where you are sitting.
Hear the sounds. Feel your body. Notice your breathing.
Without trying to control your breathing, pay attention to the incoming and outgoing breath.
When you notice your mind wandering, gently return your attention to the breath.
If you have difficulty focusing on the breath try counting the incoming and outgoing breaths – up to ten and then returning to one, with each in and out sequence counting as one.
Though it sounds simple, mindfulness meditation takes practice, and the longer you practice, the easier the process becomes. Breathing is the vehicle of transition from our conventional, anxiety-ridden, goal-oriented experience of stressful living into a natural state of functional calm and tranquility. As you concentrate on your breathing and its passage through you body, you will then be able to dismiss any distracting thoughts and become non-judgmentally aware of your feelings during the process.
